NASA Design Competition + UI/UX Design Internship

JUNE 2023-AUGUST 2023 | REMOTE

Gateways to Blue Skies Competiton, 1st Place

In June 2022, I participated in the inaugral NASA Gateways to Blue Skies Airports of Tomorrow Design Competition, winning 1st Place along with my teammates Ashima Sharma, Tahaseen Shaik, Aaron Burns, and Iana Iacob from CMU. We researched and designed a 2050 airport based on sustainability goals, connected autonomy, advanced air mobility, and optimal passenger transport flow, to propose an airport model that can be adaptable and probable in the future.

Internship Experience

During my internship following the competition, I worked as a UI/UX designer for the Office of Stem Engagement. I worked with the design team supporting NASA Headquarters in Washington D.C., and helped to redesign the NASA Science Now Virtual Exhibit platform, translating the content into a more navigable mobile app experience.

Some highlights of my internship were taking a day trip to D.C. to meet my team, and being mentored by other designers and programmers while learning new skills and content about NASA, the OSIRIS-REx mission, and other science topics!
